Rewards and Consequences
I will use a "How am I doing today" chart. All students have a space on a chart with green, yellow, orange and red cards. The students begin their day on green. If they make good choices throughout the day, their card will remain green. If they need a reminder or warning of behavior, they will switch their card to yellow. If they are continuing to make a poor choice, they will move their card to orange in which they will receive a consequence of my choice. A note will go home if they are on red at end of day. They have a chance to switch to orange, then to yellow and back to green with good choices.
I will use Kickboard points and will add/delete them by using the app in my classroom. After students earn points, they will receive MERIT bucks for their point value. We will have a MERIT Money store on campus for students to spend their merit bucks. Students can buy various rewards with their MERIT bucks.
Rewards can be earned as a whole class, or as an individual. Each week our class earns marbles that go into our marble bucket. When the bucket is full, we will earn a wheel party(bring wheels to school and ride during p.e. time) or movie/popcorn time.
Consequences are thinking chair(taking some time to reflect) and then a conversation with teacher about choices or notes/communication via email or calls home. If we are able to, we talk about the choices and discuss how student can choose wisely next time.
